Looked up from my desk this morning and noticed the โ€œEXITโ€ sign outside my door.

About Katherine Wikoff

I am a college professor (PhD in English, concentration rhetoric) at Milwaukee School of Engineering, where I teach film and media studies, political science, digital society, digital storytelling, writing for digital media, and communication. While fragments of my teaching and scholarship interests may quite naturally meander over to my blog, this space is intended to function as a creative outlet, not as part of my professional practice. LOL! Reminds me of the blonde joke where she takes her car in and asks the mechanic what
the 710 cap is for? Mechanic is puzzled and asks her to show it to him. Mechanic tells her she was reading it upside down that it’s the OIL cap.

Our brains are amazing things. Something like this where we should read what we see but we all “see” EXIT no matter if it’s front or back. Good catch!

    • Thanks, Sally! When I think about how many times Iโ€™ve looked up from my desk and out at that sign in the last twelve years and never saw anything but the word โ€œEXITโ€ . . .
