Happy Accident
An accidental photo I took of a carpet. Not really sure how it happened, and it’s blurry because my hand was moving. (I intended to take a picture of a faraway sign so I could then enlarge the photo and … Continue reading
Purple Swirls
This is what I saw as I was drinking water from a colorful old Tupperware glass in the kitchen one recent night with the light above the sink shining through. This glass was part of a set my kids used … Continue reading
Self-portrait in red bathrobe among dirty dishes
I’ve been sick the past week and a half with what I assume is Omicron, despite being double-vaxxed, boosted, and perpetually masked. Drugstores have been sold out of Covid tests, and lines at drive-up test sites are several blocks long. … Continue reading
Dashboard Abstract
I pulled into our driveway and parked in the shade of our yew tree, then noticed the kind of cool pattern of light and shade on the dash as I was getting my things together from the passenger’s seat. There’s … Continue reading

Firestreak
This is actually a reflection, on slightly crumpled aluminum foil, of the red light on my stove indicating that a burner is turned on. My daughter had placed a foil-covered tray on a lower oven shelf last night in case … Continue reading
Green light, rainy morning
A nice, gentle spring rain was falling this morning as I waited for the light to change acros the street from my office. I loved the abstract image of the green light glowing through the circles of raindrops on one … Continue reading

Paw prints etched in ice (and in my heart❤️)
I love the abstract images resulting from close-up views of this very mundane subject. A tribute to dogs everywhere who must brave the elements every day to take care of their canine business. With a special shout-out to Coco❤️

Elevator Abstractions
I saw these fun images while waiting for the elevator in the Grohmann Museum today and thought I’d share. Moving from left to right, most abstract to least. The two images in the middle are basically the same image, with … Continue reading

Abstract optical games
I took this photo two weeks ago because the reflected light was so striking. And then I promptly forgot all about it until the other night when I was at Boswell Books to see Austin Kleon. As the event began, … Continue reading
Color Blocking
Sort of. One day I suddenly noticed the bright red of the bathroom stall in my building. Took a photo. Decided to edit it so that it no longer bore strong resemblance to a bathroom stall. Because, really: Who takes … Continue reading
